Graco Slim Fit Booster Seat Review
The Graco slim fit car seat is one of the narrowest models on the market. It is a 3-in-1 seat which rear faces to its maximum height before switching over to forward facing mode and eventually becoming a high back booster seat.
It features a belt lock-off feature to aid with tight installation in some center seating positions.
Traveling with the Graco Slim Fit: What You Need to Know
Parents seeking a seat that will grow with their child should consider the Graco Slim Fit convertible car seat as an excellent solution. This 3-in-1 convertible seat can accommodate children from birth up to 100 pounds in both rear-facing and forward-facing modes, and features such as an adjustable headrest, recline position, InRight LATCH system, belt lock-offs for quick installation are among its many strengths.
The Graco Slim Fit is one of the narrowest seats on the market, making it an excellent option for tight seating arrangements. There are other Graco seats with wider dimensions such as True3Fit or Nautilus that may also prove suitable.
The Graco Slim Fit stands out with its easy-to-read level, which makes installation quick and simple. This feature can especially helpful if switching vehicles or using it on an airplane. Furthermore, its harness is intuitively designed; all other Graco seats use similar harnesses that offer plenty of support – with some straps offering resistance when tightening – making getting a secure fit more challenging than with other seats.
Finally, parents can rest easy knowing that the Graco Slim Fit can be machine washed – something many will appreciate given how susceptible to accidents it can be! Machine washing provides parents with peace of mind when dealing with spills or accidents that leave stains.
Installation
Graco’s Slim Fit car seat is an outstanding value option for parents looking for maximum value from their money. Its compact front-to-back dimensions make it suitable for tight seating arrangements and have one of the narrowest seat belt gaps among all the convertible car seats we tested. It also comes equipped with great features, such as rotating cup holders and myPockets for storage, machine washable seat pads, Simply Safe Adjust harness/headrest adjustment system and lower than average top harness height and no seatbelt lockoff for rear-facing installation. However, it should be noted that there are some drawbacks including no seat belt lockoff for rear-facing installation and lower than average top harness height compared to average. If you’re shopping around for slim car seats then check out our review of Graco 4Ever DLX which offers more affordable options yet still has top crash test scores!
Utilizing the Graco Slim Fit is quite straightforward, though we had some trouble installing it rear-facing due to unclear diagrams. Once in place, though, its forward-facing mode was easy – there are ten adjustable headrest positions so your child will always find comfort as they grow as well as multiple recline settings to help ensure long road trips go as smoothly as possible.
Rear-facing
This seat can reface to a maximum height and weight of 43 inches and 40 pounds, so it will fit most children for many years. As it’s one of our narrower convertible and 3-in-1 car seat options, this one may fit more snugly in most back seats than others do.
The seat’s cup holders rotate out of the way for easy storage space saving in your vehicle’s back seat, creating a 10% slimmer profile and saving 10% space overall. Its lower anchor system is simple to use and its belt paths align well with most vehicle seat belt routing systems; furthermore its push-button InRight LATCH offers quick, easy, and stable 3-across installs with one push of a button!
This seat is lightweight and affordable, but not the top performer in our crash tests or comfort evaluations. For maximum safety we suggest the top-rated Graco 4Ever DLX. At approximately the same price point it boasts superior crash test results in its class; therefore it may be worthwhile to compare prices of both to find the most cost-effective deal.
Forward-facing
The Graco Slim Fit convertible car seat is an all-in-one convertible car seat designed to grow with children from birth through five years. Featuring four recline positions, Simply Safe Adjust harness and headrest adjustments, InRight LATCH system for one-second attachment, narrow front-to-back seating profile that works in many vehicle seating arrangements; low harness height; no seatbelt lock-off option available when rear facing installation is desired – these features make this one-stop seat an exceptional value!
To install it forward facing, the LUAS webbing must be moved from its rear-facing belt path to a forward facing one – this step can often be missed by caregivers but Graco provides an entire section in their manual on this topic – Section 8. It’s often seen that caregivers turn to help when their car seat webbing cannot reach vehicle anchors – usually this occurs because the LUAS has been routed along an incorrect belt path.
As part of our crash testing, the seat scored average for stability and ease of use when used forward-facing mode. While it failed the wiggle test and installation using vehicle belt, its ride quality was good and its price very affordable; it is however not approved for booster use; for that purpose we suggest looking into Graco 4Ever DLX’s excellent results in our crash tests which is also quite budget friendly and offers affordable premium performance.
